Pure ASP/PHP Structure
The server script code performs all activities as accessing database etc. This make the system an open code system with the possibility to download on any server supporting the script language.
This structure is ideal for smaller internet/intraweb applications where there is no immediate need for special system, hence dll/com objects can be added in the future.

COM/dll Structure
A com object is developed to perform all requested server operations as accessing database, writing to files, creating excel documents etc. This object is called by client as he connects to server via browser through a server script languages as ASP or PHP. This method gives access to all programs installed on server and possibility to create customized low-level program as phoning on server modem or transmitting data to a serial port.
The dll's installed methods can also be used by local server program to perform stand-alone server activities.
This method is ideal for larger internet/intraweb applications as it also divides the data accessing work form the interface/layout work.

Database Server Structure
Only the database is centralized on server. Clients connect with customized applications to access and process data. All processing and viewing of data needs to be done on client machine by installed customized applications
Ideal for applications that needs low response times and where there is only need to centralize database.

Remote Method Invocation (RMI)
The application is distributed on multiple machines. Local program calls remote methods (in application on other machines) as need offering possibility to access and dived resources.
This method is used when resources as database's, processing capability are divided on multiple machine's and they need to interact independently.
